This is the lost world XVIII.
And how life in the Anthropocene is the tale about the enemy of all things living.
Healthy living is nothing but the science of life.
With the rising tide of the Baltic sea far beneath me, I towered the surrounding world.
Looking out from the crest of the Scandinavian coastline. This was still a place lost in time and mist. A mountain entirely dressed in green and trees, moss and berries, sand and soil, and it is, as much a mountainous castle growing ever taller as it is the place where salt and cold black water comes crashing in to embrace the land of the Vikings.
It was a lovers hug.
The way our mountainous land and sea and air embraced each other while birds and prey soared across the land and skies.
It is the origin of the Scandinavian soul and dragon boats.
And it was a taste of something preciously lost in most of the rest of the world.
2050AD, the ugliness of humanity.
[ Oceans run the risk of having more total weight of plastic than fish.]

As of now, humanity makes up no more than 0.01% of all the precious life that inhabits this gorgeous planet.
And yet, our despicable species, deranged and self-harming, blind and selfish, have managed to wipe out 83% of all the wild mammals this planet used to have.
Yes, we humans have done that. Not time, nor nature and natural evolution.
We, loving, caring, compassionate human beings have already snuffed out 83% of all the wild mammals which used to live on this planet.
Add to that the 50% or so of all the wild plants which have already been lost due to human hands.
Worst of all.
Out of the mammals that remain on this planet.
Only 4% are by now wild mammals. And 60% of remaining mammals is nothing but livestock...
As for birds..
Only 30% of all the remaining birds on this planet are wild.
While 70% of all the birds on this planet are farmed birds like chicken or similar birds which we raise as nothing more than living food.
And yet, there is this pool of blind and foolish people that wish for nothing more than to decimate the little wildlife we have left even further.
Decimated life
[ 4% of remaining mammals are wild.]
I am a Viking, standing tall on the crest of our incredible land.
And I see the rest of the world entirely lost out there across the sea. Blind selfish little toddlers, screaming in fear and agony while they cowardly tear the flesh of each other,
killing the entire world in the name of personal profit.
A horde of people eating shit in blind abandon.
The world is starving, decaying, dying and people are increasingly sculpting their own demise, and the scope and scale keep increasing.
So yes, the world is lost for now.
And it is so, not by accident and bad luck, instead, its sickly demise is entirely designed by our own human hands.
Beautiful progress with shades of hope, and the enemy, of all things living
But there is still time for the human race to find its course and navigate its way back to healthier ways. And just perhaps, the human race will manage to do just that.
I certainly hope so. And there are plenty of increasing knowledge and efforts.
And in many ways, this conflict and growing divide between making sustainable choices or a slow, drawn-out unsustainable end of all things living is the only real 'war' that has ever made sense, because this ongoing choice for the kind of planet we wish to live on, is really just a war of sorts for the future of humankind and this entire planet.
On one side, you have the ones that have already brought us all to the verge of extinction, they are not helmed by Marvels imaginary Thanos, instead, they are something far worse, a horde of ordinary and selfish human beings, blindly shaping the entire world in their quest for ever more profit.
They are the BP, the Exxon´s, the Trumps and oil barons of this planet.
They are the ones that will happily continue to sacrifice everything else in the name of blind, reckless profit. Because to them, killing an entire planet and everything living is perfectly fine if it makes your own bank account bigger. And that is exactly what they have been doing for quite some time now, and sadly enough, we have reached the tipping point for the kind of abuse this planet can take without everything going to shit.
While on the other side, you have those that fight for a better world and a better human race. The sustainable scientists, the vegetarians. The health and fitness people, the politicians and scholars, the ordinary people that see the need for a healthier planet in order for humanity and everything else to continue to thrive and exist in a healthy and enjoyable way where life joy and health is actually thriving.
These people are the ones fighting for not just your body and joy, your happy mind and tummy.
They are the ones fighting for your continued existence because that is the verge we are all standing on, the human race, the cows we abuse. The polar bears, the great white northern rhino, the wolves and tigers and European farmland birds.
We are all standing with the whales and sharks of the swelling oceans and we are all in a war with the unsustainable enemy that has brought this entire planet to the brink of the Scandinavian Vikings old wife tale Ragnarok. And that is why unsustainable choices are nothing more than the enemy of all things living.
But just as Ragnarok was the beginning of a better world, so is this precarious time we are all living in.
The unsustainable horde has already lost their footing, they just do not know it yet but sadly, they will still continue to harm us all for
quite some time, and how deep and cruel that wound becomes before we make it better, that is up to us all.
But before I let you go.
A few numbers from the sad reality of our present day Baltic sea, this gorgeous wild deep puddle of salty water.
About 90% of all commercial fish species in the Baltic sea is severely overfished and can absolutely not cope with the onslaught of commercial fishing and unsustainable practices.
Most fish species in the Baltic sea is not at all improving their numbers, they are actually declining and are now considered so threatened that WWF is recommending a big red, 'do not eat'.
That includes amongst other species Cod, Salmon, Pike, Turbot, Herring and eel.
In total, only 3 out of 13 commercially caught Baltic sea species are still greenlighted for commercial catch.
Quote
"Om vi ska kunna äta lokalt fångad fisk i framtiden måste politikerna ta krafttag. Kontrollen behöver skärpas, torsken få en chans att återhämta sig och ålfisket stängas under hösten. Trots det dystra läget i vårt närområde är vi glada över att konsumenterna kan välja mellan allt fler gröna alternativ i fiskdisken."
