The vaquitas are sadly not alone.
This is the Lost World of Planet Earth.
Around the world, the vaquitas are sadly not alone, there are countless of animal species, plants and all that´s facing the threat of extinction in ever greater numbers. And the pace is accelerating, so it´s not business as usual.
Worse, this is all down to man-made issues.
It got nothing to do with prey and predatory fluctuations. And it got nothing to do with natural events and Earths naturally changing cycles.
Be it the European farm birds which we are throwing into the trash bin as I type this. Or the insects all birds live off. The pollinators we all, humans included, need to survive.
The northern rhinos, the Sumatran rhino, the tigers, the Amur leopard, the elephants, the frogs and toads and other reptiles.
Heck, add homo sapiens to that list of animal species facing untold man-made dangers. Because, well. Just take a look at England and its utterly unhealthy water bodies. White swans and humans alike are swimming in nothing but pollution and filth riddled water over in good ol England.
2050AD, the ugliness of humanity.
[ Oceans run the risk of having more total weight of plastic than fish.]

And in the USA, people are drinking lead in their tap water, well, who am I kidding, Americans only drink unsustainable coca cola and equally unhealthy bottled water... ( a tiny bit tongue in cheek ) having forgotten what actual natural water is. They then proceed to throw away those empty plastic bottles into the ocean thinking that their plastic pollution will just vanish into a black hole and never again to be seen.
All while, in Europe 40+% of all surface water is unhealthy & unsustainable. Unfit for use and life in other words.
Yup.
All this shit comes down to the worthless human race.
Because this is only happening due to our own self-destructive and nearsighted choices.
But the flip side is that we can also change it.
We can put an end to fossil fuel driven vehicles and put an end to the hundreds of millions of people that suffer poor health due to fossil fuel driven pollution.
We can put an end to animal factory farms and red meat production and in turn lower worldwide pollution in incredible numbers.
Not to mention, drastically cut our destructive land mass addiction, which in turn will provide all these endangered animals with much more room to actually thrive. Which in turn will forever aid our own human health.
Or we can continue to stick our heads down the sand and repeat uncle sams white house message that burning more coal and destroying more nature is good for us while we watch the vaquitas and homo sapiens alike continue going down the same crappy but, mutually shared one-way road.

“In terms of the general public, one of the main things to do in the future may be to reduce the proportion of meat in the diet. Livestock agriculture generates higher nutrient losses per kilogram of food produced,”
